INTERVIEW WITH A FLYING ELVIS IMPERSONATOR BEFORE HIS FIRST JUMP.

I’m all shook up but I ain’t in love—
I got to step outta this airplane, man!
the real Elvis didn’t have to deal w/
no 32-foot-per-second drop & how it’d
bust up his pompadour & blow off his
sunglasses & severely crimp his jewels
he spent most of his life on Earth, man!
the truth is—I didn’t know nothin’
about no jump over no Double A stadium
I don’t want to drift off into the BBQ!
some of these fellas are paratroopers
from wars, like, a long long time ago—
it’s how Elvis woulda looked, man,
flying toward a baseball game in his 90s!

"crimp his jewels" - joy is mine

borrowed from the famous gang battle -- bloods v. crimps. in one gang the jewels are loose. in the other gang, crimped. it's not clear who wins. sometimes 'loose jewels' is better; sometimes crimped. the singer Jewel performs at halftime. but i digress. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------BA

the singer [and poet] Jewel

an important distinction, thank you for reminding me. (i think.) if she were adorned with rubies and gems she would be BeJeweled or in the parlance of The Kids -- B-Jewelz. it could also become a kind of exclamation, like yahtzee -- only B-Jewels! you'd clank your forehead & drink a tomatoe-y drink. but i digress #2. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------BA
